Trade memo · Australian jewellers
An approved memo arrangement lets an eligible jewellery business hold specified diamonds for an agreed purpose under written terms. 8CARATS supports trade discussions around suitable Australian stock, sales notification, returns and invoicing.
Memo is a trade arrangement, not an immediate purchase. The diamond is allocated to the retailer for an agreed period or purpose while ownership remains with 8CARATS' operating legal entity until a confirmed sale or other agreed transfer. The retailer is responsible for protecting and identifying the entrusted goods under the signed terms.
Not every stone or account is eligible. The team confirms the stock ID or certificate number, the relevant retailer, the agreed conditions and how returns will be managed before releasing an item.
A hold is a request to reserve an available stone for a short period subject to confirmation. Memo involves physical or otherwise agreed custody of specified goods and separate written responsibilities. Retailers should not treat a search result, a pending hold request or a verbal enquiry as an approved memo.
For suitable stones, the team can consider a hold first and discuss memo only when the allocation is approved. Australian-held diamond stock and international supplier listings have different physical availability and fulfilment conditions.
If a retailer sells a diamond supplied on memo, the retailer must notify 8CARATS as soon as practicable so the appropriate invoice can be issued. The sale should be matched to the correct memo allocation, stock identifier and customer transaction.
Unsold goods remain subject to the agreed care, return and recall requirements. Where 8CARATS recalls a memo item, the retailer must arrange its secure return without unreasonable delay under the applicable terms.
Please provide the diamond type (natural or lab-grown), shape, carat, colour, clarity, grading certificate or stock reference where known, and the reason and timeframe for the memo request. The team will confirm whether a suitable item and retailer arrangement are available.
Retailers can source diamonds for engagement rings, bespoke jewellery, customer viewings or other trade work. No specific stone, term or credit condition is guaranteed merely by submitting an enquiry.
No. The account must be approved, the diamond must be eligible and separate memo conditions must be agreed.
Any transfer, alteration or sale must follow the written memo conditions. The retailer must obtain required approval and notify the team when a sale occurs.
Read the 8CARATS wholesale terms and conditions and ask the team to confirm the terms for your specific allocation.
Talk to 8CARATS about the diamond specifications and your trade account. Memo requests are reviewed individually.
